Q-and-A: Germany: 17 Feb 2022

 1.  Trains at a halt in Germany?

Major weather front coming across the Atlantic and in the entire NW section of Germany.....there's no train movement since last night.  Even in my region.....70 to 100 kph winds are being predicted today.....while in some northern areas....it's 140 to 200 kph.  A lot of damage anticipated today.

2.  Russian troops moving out?

What is generally said is that some Russian troops who were in the Crimea (far south of Ukraine) have left.  Beyond that....nothing much.

3.  Virtually all Covid rules going away on 20 March?

There's to be no fed mandates left at this point except the medical/caretaker mandate to be vaxed or terminated from employment.

At the state level?  Masks will be left for each state to mandate, and most folks anticipate shopping/transportation situations to still be a mask mandate.

4.  Lot of press attention to the term 'Minister of Panic' being attached to the federal Health Minister (Lauterbach)?

OH YEAH.  It's become a daily thing where the press talks about it, and Lauterbach has to defend his chatter.  Just a humble opinion but it's hard to imagine him still there at the end of 2022.

Lauterbach refusing to utter the term 'Freedom Day' (20 March)?  That has been mentioned a number of times via several news groups.

5.  Major investigation into a 'Nazi-network' halted?

Over in Brandenburg, for months....this police investigation was going on....trying to establish a gang of Nazis existed, and they were 'criminal Nazis' (don't ask me how this fits).

This morning, via Welt....Brandenburg police say the investigation is finished....it leads nowhere.  No charges.  Lot of embarrassment around the camp.  Lot of talk for months that they were going to break up this Nazi criminal group.

Fake agenda?  It's hard to say what this group was.  Maybe they had done some crimes along the way and had hinted they were Nazi-like or something.  Maybe the prosecutor felt Nazi evidence would make the whole case air-tight.

6.  Those environmental kids to block traffic leading to the airports?

What the radical group is saying....there is now an ultimatum going up....either the Chancellor promises something or they start blocking roads leading into airports.  In this case, you'd delay folks getting to the airport for their flight, and trigger massive public anger.

The FDP Party has said 'enough'....the kids need to be jailed/held.
