Ticket Management?

The Bundesliga (the German soccer league management)....came out over the weekend and said they intend to build some mechanism to control ticket sales.  The 'trigger' to this announcement was a Friday night game in Prague....where certain German fans showed up....insulting opposing players....and hyping Nazi-slogans.

How would this work?  No one really says.

You would have to build some monster-sized database which the German Interior Ministery had some connection into....which would require you to enter your passport number or citizen ID-card number, and somehow validate who you were and if you were on the 'bad-boy' list.

Odds of happening anytime soon?  Virtually impossible.

But this suggest puts you on the path to wondering how soccer ticket sales will be managed in the decade to come.  You'd likely purchase some ticket under your name....show up at the stadium in question, and have to perform a retina-scan.  All of this would require significant infrastructure funding from the government and likely disenfranchise a large portion of the soccer fan base....to the point that they'd just refuse to ever buy tickets or attend games.

This Nazi-soccer fan topic?  It's an odd topic and I seriously doubt that this is much of an organized effort.  Maybe there might be a hundred of these guys to show up for a particular game...but no one ever cites numbers.

As for master-control of tickets for all sports....like Grand Prix-racing, tennis, or such?  All of this control would have to lead back to some dynamic database and massive trust that it wasn't hacked or being misused.  For some reason.....I don't have much trust that this will come to a popular acceptance by the general public.
