Five years ago in Germany, it was practically impossible to open up the newspaper and note some episode where a German used tear-gas or irritant-gas on folks in public. Well....five years have passed, and HR (our public TV network in Hessen) noted that it's now a fairly regular event for irritant gas to be used....in the wrong situations.
You can walk into any gas station or drug-store, along with defensive weapon shops, and buy irritant-gas now.
In 2016, there were 2,130 episodes reported in the state of Hessen over irritant-gas. Most of them....were not a life-threat type situation.
Legally, by laws on the books, this irritant-spray business is only supposed to be around to protect you from animals. That's the funny part to this story. The cases where folks have used and actually affected themselves? Well....cops have more or less admitted that this is a growing problem.
What's likely to happen? At some point, the political folks are going to get hyped up and likely ban the sale of irritant-gas.
