The End of Daylight Savings Time in Europe?

I often essay over the EU preoccupation with 'fixing' things.  So today, there is this potential topic going around and they might actually fix something that 90-percent of the public desires.

Day-light savings time is on the list of topics to discuss.....and getting rid of it.

It's an odd topic to bring up with working-class Germans.  The negativity level is at an all-time high and I would suggest if you asked most folks....more than ninety-percent say it must dissolve and go away.  Some linger with no opinion.....very few are enthusiasts of the idea.

ARD (public German TV news) reported on this topic and trend today.

The EU is said now to have a full report on various aspects of the time-change, and it appears that a large group of political folks there are willing to vote on dumping the concept.

The one odd aspect of this deal?  The far-left, the Greens, and the far-right....all agree that it needs to go away.  You can't find a topic like this where so many different groups agree.

My guess is that it'll come up shortly on a vote.  We will enter Daylight-Savings time in the spring and as it ends in the fall....that will be the final end as the vote renders it a dead program.

UPDATE: The EU debate occurred today, and later ended....no changes occurred because of weak support.  Oddly, no one much on the German public TV side can cite who was fully supporting the concept to keep Daylight Savings Time.
