My German wife made a big deal two years ago about buying an extra freezer (for the basement). The real issue was that she wanted the 'Cadillac' of German freezers....a Miele. This wasn't going to be a $500 to $700 type freezer. This was going to amounts up around $1,100. Her thing about Miele is that they build to last (maybe up to fifty years).
In the end....that's what we bought. Yeah....it kinda bothered me paying that much.
So, this past week....while overloading one of the bins (the whole thing has seven trays instead of just an open interior).....she basically broke the whole bin. Yep....broke enough that it requires a new one.
I contacted the Gretchen-gal from Miele, who laid out the problem here. Just to get one silly freezer bin....it's roughly 70-Euro ($85). I sat there shaking my head.
What....is this thing made by Bavarian virgin maidens or fairies?
This is the problem with this Cadillac-theme of purchases, and getting higher quality assets....the cost gets to a ridiculous point.
