There's an interesting German story over at N-TV this morning....talking about the decline of movie tickets in Germany over the past year.
There is a 14-percent cut in 2018 movie attendance....compared against 2017. Last year, 105 million tickets were sold across Germany to movie theaters.
Blame? Well....the experts suggest that the World Cup games, and increased video streaming at home....were the chief problems.
Typically, at least for evening shows....it's around ten to twelve Euro per adult. You can still find good deals for Sunday afternoons.....around eight Euro per adult. But the chief cost is popcorn and a soda (you might be paying 12 Euro per person).
The interesting figure from this story is the number of kinos/cinemas/theaters in existence in Germany today....1,171. Some of these are the old fashioned type operations with just a hundred seats in some small town or village, which lingers on and survives.
