The Children's Bonus Chatter

If you go through the weekend news, and look at what N-TV is saying today.....a lot of hype exists now within the SPD Party, for the children's bonus deal.  What's this about?

About a month ago, for stimulus discussions, someone within the SPD Party (the left-of-center folks) suggested the idea of 300 Euro per kid in Germany being issued to the parents.

As long as you were still living dad's house and non-working.....this would be enough for the 300 Euro deal.  Mass support?  Well....among kids, yes.  Among parents, mostly yes.

Here's the thing, there are around (not precisely) about 10.5-million 'kids' in Germany today.  You can do the math and conclude that this is a fair sum of money.  So the money-handlers and tax folks are the ones who worry about this idea.

If you pay out the money?  At this point, most parents would consume the money and buy fall clothing or school supplies for the kids. Yes, it'd quickly go into the economy.

What worries some is that you start a practice like this, and how easily would it occur to repeat it in 2021, or 2022?

Odds of this occurring?  I'd put it at near 95-percent chance of happening.  Now, they might write a rule into this that you have to make less than 50,000 a year as a couple....to qualify for this.  I could see that being part of the end-result.

(for reference over the value of the Euro, the current exchange rate is around 1.11 US per one Euro)
