Chatter Over Basic Income

For two years, Finland went and tried the Basic Income experiment.  At the end of 2018....it ended.  What most would say in the end....it wasn't a success or failure....it just demonstrated significant issue, and the idea of shifting this into a permanent project....won't occur (at least not until they can figure the issues out).

So how much was paid out monthly to this group?  I read through the University Of Helsinki report, and it's kinda interesting.

The sum paid to the 'test-group'?  560 Euro a month (roughly $620).

Basic income...to explain it in simple detail....is 'free-money' and provided to improve the future or the lifestyle of the receiver.

I should note that all of the 2,000 Finns who received the money....were on unemployment, and getting what you'd consider a welfare-income.

The science guys or experts handling the project...envisioned that lives would improve....people would use the money to get certifications, or start small business operations.

Well...nothing much happened, period.

The idea of the dangling 'carrot' to get people pepped-up to move up a step?  Worthless idea, at best.

After reading through the basic report....my general impression was that they'd been better off to sponsor the unemployed guy through a coaching program....mandatory job-training (minimum of twelve months), and spend more funds on job skills improvement.  Just handing the cash to the folks....wasn't going to accomplish anything.

So onto the Germans.  They've also started up a Basic Income program and collecting data at present.  My hunch is that they come out in 2022, and basically prove the same issues as the Finns.  Basic income doesn't work.

The fact that this idea is continually pulled out and pushed hard as an agenda item?  Just wishing for something....doesn't mean it'll successfully occur.
