Grocery stores in Germany opened up this morning (Saturday) with the sales of Covid-19 test 'quickie' kits (you get the result in fifteen minutes).
In a matter of an hour....stores were sold out. Some were gone within fifteen minutes. (note: stores allowed one box (five test kits) per customer)
What's generally said as of noon....replenishment will occur by mid-week.
My humble guess? Whatever arrives at the grocery stores on Wednesday...will also be sold out in an hour.
The going rate at Aldi? Five kits in a box, for 24.99 Euro.
I'll predict for the entire month of March....these quickie test kits will go as soon as they get unloaded from the delivery truck, and consumers will buy up five or six boxes (each five kits) to store in the kitchen and use as needed.
Crazy stuff.
