Q-and-A: Germany 3 Feb 2022

 1.  Is the German news media being kinda rough on Chancellor Scholz?

Well....last night for the 9:45 late news....ZDF's moderator did a one-on-one interview with Scholz, and I'd rate it pretty direct/blunt.  There were no easy questions.  So for about eight minutes....Scholz got drilled and 'passed'.  He's not Merkel, and certainly not Helmut Schmidt....but presently, he's got the job until he really screws up badly.

The one thing that is hurting....you've got around ten different problem areas which are consuming the public's attention, and there's just no real solutions for the  problems....meaning people usually reach a point of dishing out 'blame'.  Sooner or later....he will get the blame.

2.  Odd discoveries over this guy in the Pfalz police shooting (2 dead police)?

Cops went to one of his store-fronts and found 'tons' of wild game meat.  Just based on the description in Focus.....he'd been quietly/secretly running a wild game butcher shop, without any license or such.  He probably was generating around 10k Euro a month on income from this.

Adding to the story....he had neither a hunting license or gun license.

Lot of illegal poaching?  It would appear that he'd been in the business (illegally) for years.  If he hadn't shot the cops.....there would be enough there on illegal operations, poaching, tax evasion....to send him off for twenty-odd years.   He was pretty much living on the edge of life....very successful on money, but all illegal.

3.  Catholic Church to end compulsory celibacy?

Well....the chief Bishop in Germany made a public comment that the whole celibacy gimmick "can't go on the way it is".

He didn't say female priests will be on the discussion list, but it just looks  like some evolution about to occur....whether the Pope likes it or not.

4.  Stress makes you ill?

I noticed off N-TV news (commercial German news) that a science study had been done, with results showing that the heart and mental health....are one single entity.  So living a long life can only be possible if you are mentally happy, controlling stress, and eating a healthy diet.  Piling on more stress is just wrecking your odds.

5.  2G Covid ban rule being dumped in Hessen?

Curiously....this 2G gimmick (meaning you can't enter a building unless you are vaxed-up or recovered) has pretty much screwed over commerce since implemented around 3 months ago.  Everybody, from sports facilities, fitness studios, stores, pubs, restaurants, etc.....has seen serious profit problems.  So the state government said 'fine'....it will end.  Masks?  Still mandated.

6.  Kassel area approving erection of 18 new giant wind-generators?

Well....yes.  But the minute they said they'd approved it....a anti-wind-generator group announced a legal challenge.  The story goes that they actually found a area that had almost no trees....so there's almost no tree-cutting involved.

The odds that the court will consider stalling the project?  A lot of political pressure going on now....to reset the pace of wind-power.  It might go through.

7.  Finally, this rumor of a K-Pop music fest being true?

On 14 May, for a single day in Frankfurt.....they will have the big names of K-pop (Korean boy band music) gathered up there.  The story from yesterday says every single ticket has now been sold....so it's guaranteed success.

Are there that many K-pop bans around? I'd say 99-percent are German teenagers.
