Winter Chatter

"January mean temperatures in Germany have been falling for quite some time now, thus contradicting the often heard claims of warming."

- Wattsupwiththat.com, Feb 2022

It's an interesting short article based on data collected for well over fifty years.

Looking strictly at January temperatures....with increasing C02 in the mix....there has been no warming period for January since 1988 (only a decline in temperature).

If you asked me to detail January weather in central Germany....I'd tell you to bundle up....be prepared for snowfall....and avoid leaving the house unless you have no choice.

I'd also state the obvious....there's typical 'bad' winters, and there's really harsh 'Siberian-like' winters (2003, for example).  Some of these fronts come in and just linger for a day....some fronts sit and linger for several weeks.

You need to understand that we shouldn't be having weather volatility like this for quite a while the oscillating nature of our elliptical orbit has us almost as circular as we get over a 100 thousand year period. When we reach the other extreme in around 50 thousand years from now, that's when it should be more volatile. Due to the exaggerated distances of the ellipse.

Watch the BBC documentary called orbit and you'll understand why we currently have a little bit of am issue.
