It's mostly a shocker:
Diesel is at 2.30 Euro per liter, at the local Esso station. Comes to $10.21 a gallon, US.
E-10 regular is at 2.15 Euro per liter at the local Aral station. Comes to about $9.54 a gallon.
Lot of political chatter going on that the VAT/fuel tax has to be cut drastically. Odds of this next week? It'll be openly discussed at the Bundestag, but I doubt if the votes are there to do much until it starts to hit 2.50 for diesel/gas.
What I generally will predict is that the VAT drops from 19-percent on fuel, to around 7-percent, and the fuel tax drops by 15 cents....but this is only geared toward ninety days.
Stopping the escalation? No. Even if the VAT/fuel tax drops....the escalation will continue on through the summer and I'll openly predict the regular E-10 fuel price (even with taxes adjusted).....they will be near 2.70 Euro per liter for diesel and 2.40 for E-10 by mid-summer.
If people had a fear over 5-percent inflation....they haven't seen nothing yet.
The adjusted VAT/tax going back to normal in 2022? I don't see how. The environmentalists hyping the E-cars now? Well....electrical costs are escalating just as much.
