I essayed a good bit in 2020 (Oct-Nov) over environmentalists being hyped up over new construction with Autobahn 49....the extension being built through the Dannen forest (north of Frankfurt).
Well....there's been this legal case building up....where the police sued the 'kids' over the cost of one particular operation, which was not a legal authorized protest.
This week, HR (regional public TV) reported that the judge wrapped up the case.
This revolved around 3 environmentalists who placed themselves on ropes....hanging off a bridge over Autobahn 3. Police arrived and ordered them down....they refused.
So the clock started ticking and there was a fair amount of manpower/manhours used.
Judge says....there is a cost factor of 13,393.90 Euro, and has assessed it to the three.
Being challenged to the Constitutional Court? I might guess that.
What'll happen at the end....there will be some court officer explaining to the three how this works, and probably dividing the 13k Euro between them. If they can't pay....they will be visited by someone to assess their holdings/cash situation, and retrieve what it takes for the fine.
This likely to happen more often? It wouldn't shock me if the police start counting manhours and assess a cost-factor to each protest that is not authorized.
