The War: 2 Mar 2022

 1.  It may not be that big of a deal, but overnight.....the Boeing folks said that they are suspending maintenance/parts for Russian aircraft.  Part of this may lead back to the fact that various delivery companies are suspending operations to Russia, so getting an ordered part might have been messy.

Triggering a shutdown of air operations?  Maybe.  I also noticed that AirBus is going to similar attitude.

But remember....most aircraft used in Russia....is Russian-made.

2.   Exxon leaving Russia?  There's a report out there to suggest they will exit on their natural gas/oil production activities in Russia.  Their big operation?  On the island of Saklanin (just north of Japan).  This was a joint Russian-Japanese-US situation.

3.  According to RBB.....around 1,300 refugees from the Ukraine arrived in Berlin last night.  The city of Berlin says they are prepared for an initial group of 20,000.

4.  There's been a request or two....floating over to the Turks....to open the straits for more Russian military vessels.  So far, the Turks have said no.....using a 1930s agreement that they have the right (in wartime) to allow no vessels into the Black Sea.  How long this goes on....unknown.

5.  If you look at the progress of this military convoy (20 to 30 miles long) heading toward Kiev....they've had issues with fuel.  If you use the typical tank situation....it's a .3 mpg situation.  Even with a 500 gallon tank onboard, you might be lucky to get 150 miles on that one fueling.  You'd have to have x-number of tankers placed along the way, and a convoy of tankers to occur every hour or two....to keep this column moving.

6.  Some negative reaction by the Greens to the idea of 100-billion Euro for the German Army to reach a level of competence?  Well....some Greens have openly said this is not a priority with them..  So getting the funding approved is a problem.  Adding to this....I noticed a poll...roughly three-quarters of the nation thinks its a wise idea to bring the Bundeswehr to the level where they should be.

7.  WELT had a piece this morning which talked over a conflict of personalities....between the Defense Minister (Lambrecht, SPD) and the German Army Inspector General.  This General has released statements direct to the public, and Lambrecht apparently wanted to control the theme.  Since the day of the coalition starting up....it's been hyped-up that Lambrecht is just not the right person for the Defense Minister job.  But I don't see her leaving (at least in 2022).

8.  Some stupid rumor starting up that Putin's daughter is the next dictator?  Well....the gal's name is Katerina Tiktonova.  What you can say is that she's a scientist, manager, former acrobat....35 years old, and was married to a billionaire for five years.  Frankly, I think the suggestive story is BS, mostly because she has no real status within the party apparatus.
