N-TV (German commercial news) carried an unusual piece over the Russia-Ukraine war, and I have to say on the BS-factor.....it's probably a '5' so you can't be sure of anything much.
So the story goes this way.
Things for the most part have bogged down for the Russians.....the 72-hour war is a joke.
There is a rumor going around where a FSB guy (what took the place of the KGB) talks over what they were originally told to do, and what came at the start of the war.
This guy says neither the Army or gov't itself....were prepared for what came, and the consequences.
In his description (you have to take it at face value)...the economic sanctions situation was never fully explored in the weeks leading up to the invasion.
He also says the assumption by everyone in FSB was that the Ukraine would attack first.
Another assumption was that the Ukrainian President and top level guys would all have been captured in the 72-hour period.
Then you come to his thoughts over the Ukrainians....that somehow....this has caused virtually every single person there to be anti-Russian. There is no situation where this ends, and Russia is treated as a equal or as a trusted soul.
He ends his commentary with a view that Russian 'signed-up' for a 100-meter sprint, and things today are more or less a marathon situation....something they can't endear.
True FSB analyst? That's the problem.....you can't prove that angle. The N-TV journalist did find two contacts in the FSB, and just asked their view....they felt the guy's comments are legit.
So from day one, and the 100 days of planning prior to that......it was all screwed-up? More or less. They just assumed the Ukraine was really that weak and would fold. Then they assumed the EU and the US was just as weak, and would not bring massive sanctions that touched every single Russian.
FYI: one dollar buys 138 Rubles today (1:30 PM). A year ago, it was around 72 Rubles to the dollar.
What happens now? I would guess that the FSB folks are reviewing every single exit-door, and suggesting that an end to the invasion has to occur (not in six months, or six weeks). Getting out of the war-crimes charges? You'd have to agree to some kind of gift-money package.....going way beyond 100-billion Euro. Putin being the guy to settle this? I don't see how that scenario can play out.....either the current game continues with him, or you reshuffle the deck....to remove him entirely and bring in an entire new team.
A whole war based on faulty planning? I can name a hundred wars that went this way.
