Gas Chatter

This AM....the Bavarian Premier-President (Markus Söder, CSU Party) spoke up to this idea....the VAT on gas being changed.

Present rate: 19-percent.

Present E-10 fuel cost: 2.00 Euro per liter (that's with the VAT).

What's he opening up?  He wants the VAT on a temp-basis, changed to 7-percent.

What does he mean by temporary?  Well....that was not openly discussed.  It might be a 60-day thing, at best.

This being agreeable?  I doubt if the coalition government will agree to this idea, but maybe they'd agree to carving off three or four percent, for a certain period of time.

Presently, there is a .65-cent Euro tax on regular unleaded.....which he is not suggesting that change or be reduced....just the VAT (sales tax).

In case you were wondering if there is any 'science' behind the .65-cent Euro tax....NO, this was just an arbitrary number picked at random.  You could easily say .40-cents makes just as much sense.
