Two Interesting Stories This AM

First, the German Economics Minister (Habeck, Green Party) has come out to say that coal import from Russia will halt by this fall.

How much is imported into Germany?  31-million tons.

How much does Russia supply into Germany?  Well...2020 numbers indicate around 45-percent.  Behind them is the US at 18-percent and Australia at 12-percent.

Who will make up this 45-percent of Russia?  Unknown....he left this key element out of the story.

Both Canada and South Africa sell a fair amount in the world.  It would be interesting how they are arranging the contracts.

Getting more out of the US?  West Virginia would go on it's own to deliver every ounce of that....if they weren't prevented by President Biden.  My humble belief is that Poland will get a chunk of this, and South Africa will end up with the bulk of this contract.

Habeck even said a large segment of Russian oil would be cut....never saying where that might be procured.

On a second curious topic.....Russia came out this morning and said if anyone supplies weapons to the Ukrainians.....it's going to make those deliveries/convoys a legit target.  It's a blunt statement to both the US and EU.

Anything on territory which is NATO ground?  It just broadens the conflict more.  I'm sure they mean just on Ukraine ground....at least one hopes that.
