In the last hour, most news organizations reporting that the 25 April BIG meeting that had been scheduled for the CDU Party, and was to select the new party 'boss' and eventual replacement for Chancellor.....is suspended. No words on the new date. Blame? The virus.
Typically around mid-July, all of the political folks would take off for four to six weeks of vacation. Maybe their intention is to have this right before the vacation period, but they wouldn't get all the media mileage out of the topic....if delayed that long.
A big deal? Folks were kinda expecting the new face to emerge out of this.
Two days ago, it was admitted via a poll that a odd fourth candidate is out there and projects better than the current three folks. However, he's not really entered this event, and it's a bit odd to mention this. The guy? The CSU Party 'boss'....Soder.
Maybe the delay is to benefit him in building up some support.
