Germany and the Coronavirus: 10 March 2020

1.  The WHO reported (mid-day yesterday) that Germany's infection rate was at 1,112.  Total deaths: 2.  The deaths occurred in the past 24 hours.  One was a elderly woman (89 years old and described as in frail health), and the other was a German guy in his late 70s, who officially died from heart failure as a result of the virus.  The guy had been described as in serious condition for at least a week.  It should be noted with the guy.....he had diabetes and a heart condition of some type prior to the virus.

2.  Italy has put up a zero-movement plan, for the entire nation.  Oddly, airports and train stations will remain open.....so it's a curious plan.

3.  Germany has approved sick-leave requests by doctors now....via a phone-call.  It means you don't even have to be in the clinic.  The requests are only good for seven days.

4.  N-TV had an assessment today over the German situation....saying that most are having a serious cold-like situation, sore throat, and it all goes away in a few days.  The other 15-percent?  They are regarded as in serious condition.

5.  The state of Bavaria says it wants to cancel all sporting events, in particular.....soccer games.  Lot of internal discussion going on.  This is a serious and sensitive topic for most of the major league clubs.  A fair amount of their yearly profit.....revolves around the arenas being full.  ARD is reporting that the federal government of Germany does not have the power to cancel sports events.....only the sport leagues and the 16 German states have this power.
