Political News

Yesterday (Wed), the German Bundestag had a draft proposal put up by the Green Party.....briefly debated, and then 'dumped'.  The idea?  The Green Party suggested that 5,000 refugees on the Greek isles....mostly all kid or juveniles, would be brought to Germany.

Yes, shades of 2015.

N-TV news picked up the basic story and it's worth a read.

Around the general public, there is extreme stress and aggravation about everything that occurred in the 2013-to-2016 period (2015 in particular) and no one wants uncontrolled mass asylum going on.  Both the major parties....the CDU and SPD....are in absolute fear of the chaos.

So the position taken by the SPD was to say in nice general terms.....there has to be a EU position taken and a EU 'answer'.  Then when the mess occurs (quietly saying this).....then you can blame them.

Naturally, if you gaze over at the EU.....they can't invent a solution to this discussion.  They might agree to offer Turkey more money (certainly more than 3-billion Euro a year).  Course, Erdogan might be talking ten to twelve billion Euro.  They might even offer military assistance to threaten Syria more.  I doubt if this is even worth discussing....because of the fear of making this a bigger mess.

Politically....the question is....in a year building up to the national election, do you really want a repeat of 2015?  If you are indecisive or hint of a open-door....how many voters would go to the AfD Party to suggest a frustration vote?  Nationally right now.....AfD can pull around 15-percent (differing positions in the sixteen states).  With a hyped up asylum situation?  They could easily gain another five to ten points.  I won't suggest they could win, but they'd weaken the SPD and CDU parties enough.....that chaos would follow in the 2021 election.

As for the draft proposal....bringing these kids into Germany?  You'd be separating the mothers from the kids, and one can imagine that being the front-page news of the day.....blasting on the good intentions of stupid politicians.
