Soccer Games Under Threat

The headquarters for German soccer (the Bundesliga).....is now suggesting they are fairly close to declaring 'ghost' games (meaning no fans).  It'd just be the players, the coaches, and the ref's there.

This will drag out a lot of discussion with German guys, and headline the next couple of days in German pubs around the country.

Economically, the arenas and teams are dependent on the revenue from the games.  If you figured up the fans, the private 'boxes', the food and beer revenues, etc....it's probably a million Euro per game that the home team collected.

A big deal?  The last game of the season is set for 16 May.  Maybe if they delay this decision to the first of April....with just five to six games left to play.....they could slide by.  Maybe the arena operations could get some government tax credit deal if the government were able to act responsibly.
