Notes on Coronavirus in Germany

1.  This morning....RyanAir (the discount airline) noted that they are shutting down the bulk of their flights in Europe....within ten days.  Amount of shut-down time?  Unknown.  Fairly drastic measure and I would imagine you won't see them re-start until mid-to-late April.

2.  Some kind of weird directive came out of Italy this morning, where the authorities were telling people NOT to jog.

3.  It was noted on the news this morning that Bavaria (the state) will allow grocery stores to operate on Sundays now, from noon to 6 PM.  Pretty shocking exemption.....usual religious rules fell into place for Sundays but it'll allow folks to shop during this period.

4.  Bavaria is putting 10-billion Euro out for companies who are on the losing end of this mess.  Considered an aid-device (not a loan).

5.  The Hypo Bank has closed one-third of it's banks throughout Germany because of the virus.....employees are working from home so you can phone them on questions.  I assume ATM machines are still being loaded on a regular schedule.

6.  Some advice being passed around that you should 'wipe' the fuel cap before fueling up the car.

7.  Curfews being discussed?  To some minor degree.  But if you have bars and clubs shut down.....do you even need to discuss a curfew?  Curfews can only be established by city or state authorities (not the federal government).  It's hard to imagine this being necessary at this point.
