I doubt this goes anywhere, but via a Focus article this AM....there's chatter about this new SPD Party idea.
The idea is this....on your 18th birthday in Germany, we (the government) would 'gift' you 20,000 Euro. It would be called a 'basic heritage'.
What would you do with the money? Some would just throw it into a bank and save it for later in life. Some would go out and buy a new car. Some would spend on cocaine and cannabis. Some would use it to spend 18 months in Thailand.
Where would the cash come from? Well.....you, the tax payer.
On my scale of stupid ideas.....this ranks up there near the top.
Comedians will probably talk about it for a week or two, and it'll just drop off the conversation list by the end of May.
