BILD did another political survey (if the election were this week type situation) and results reported via a Focus article.
It's not good news for the Merkel's CDU Party. They sit in second-place with 24-percent of the vote.
The Green Party appears solid now....at 27-percent....first place.
The SPD Party retains third place....at 15-percent.
The FDP has picked a point, sitting at 11-percent.
AfD at 10-percent and the Linke Party at 7-percent.
The trend business? This goes back to the CDU selection (by executive committee) to Armin Laschet as the Chancellor candidate. Last week, the rumor started up that members of the party (not the executive committee) want to have a party congress meeting and let membership select the candidate. Odds of this? They should have done this in late 2020, but this whole fear of Covid scared the crap out of the party elite.
I would suggest the trend will continue, with the Greens eventually getting near 28 to 30 percent. The FDP might pick up a couple of points (mostly CDU voters who are disgruntled) and be close to 16-percent.
An exciting 'race'? I just wouldn't go and describe this election (set for September) that exciting or thrilling.
