What Does A Russian Conscript Make?

Well, this popped up yesterday and I spent an hour looking over facts.  First, you have a mandate for Russian guys (a draft)....between ages 18 and 27, you must pull one year.  There are waivers, but it's typically for college kids or the elite.

Second, there are two conscript paths.  If you volunteer, and sign for 3 years.....you go to a better program (training,  slightly higher pay in the beginning).

So to the average 1-year guy (as of 2022), your conscript pay is 2,000 Rubles per month.  In relation to the dollar, that's about $19.61 per month.

Yeah, it's crap, and wouldn't even cover booze for a weekend.

As for the contract conscript (the guy getting real training, and a volunteer)?  His starting pay (per month) is around 62,000 Rubles ($607 presently).

Slightly better.
