The War: 16 Mar 2022 (AM)

 1.  Ukraine claims it destroyed three Russian helicopters at the Kherson Airport (far south, above the Crimea area).  BS-factor?  Maybe a '1'.....some news source has viewed the area and agrees on a fair amount of damage.

2.  Ukraine claims domestic damage now just above 500-billion dollars.

3.  Some claim last night by the Ukrainians that the Russians have lost around 40-percent of their equipment assembled for the invasion.  BS-factor?  Probably a '7'.  There is a lot of damaged tanks/APCs/trucks just sitting there.  Hard to assess if the loss is near 40-percent.

4.  This White House comment '30 years of economic success wiped out'?  Well....when you consider the corruption factor...it's probably better to say for every ten steps forward that the Russian economy made....there four steps back due to pay-offs to the Kremlin/Oligarch community.  Russia still did well....but they could delivered more to the middle-class.

5.  Russia puts sanctions on President Biden, his son Hunter, and Hillary Clinton?  Well....yeah.  It's not likely the three will visit any country friendly to Russia, but it's curious that they put Hillary Clinton and Hunter on the list.

6.  Chancellor Scholz of Germany made a comment that he thinks Putin has been planning this operation for more than a year.  BS-factor?  I'd give it a '6'....mostly because of lack of facts.

7.  N-Tv (news network of Germany) did a piece on the future landscape for the rich and elite of Russia.  So, it's pretty dismal news for their lifestyle.

Russian people in their 30s and 40s....with the gift mentality, are pretty screwed at this point.

The crowd who would jet off to Istanbul, or Greek islands, or Paris for the weekend?  Harsh new reality in place.

8.  There's supposed to be a bond payment due today from Russia....around $117-million.  N-TV discussed this in the AM.  Odds of this occurring?  I'd put it at marginal to none.

The economical fall approaching?  I don't think there's a single segment of the economy that will survive this approaching crisis in Russia.  You'd have to nationalize virtually every single service/business operation in the country.....to survive.  The same people who planned this Ukraine mess....running the nationalization?  That's the amusing conversation to engage in and question.

If you think about this enough....probably a quarter of the Russian population will reach some level of frustration and ask why would I stay in this type of environment?

The pondering reaching the point of asking....did Putin himself expect any of this?  That's the thing you have no idea about.
