Those Ships

At some point early yesterday (Thursday), I picked a Japan story....which came via several different sties.

Japan says four amphibious landing ships passed by, and was heading in a SW direction....hinting they thought they were heading toward Indian, and onto the Med....with tanks/equipment.

BS-meter?  Maybe a '2'.  These aren't huge ships but you can figure they carry around 40 to 50 pieces of equipment each.

Wouldn't it be quicker to put the tanks onto the railway system....to cross Siberia and reach region around the Ukraine?  That's generally my thought.  If you look at the map....this is a 10-day voyage.  With the railway....I think it could be done in 7 days.

Course, you might intend for the four ships to land around Odessa.

This being an invasion force for Moldovia?  It's a bit-sized military force and I could see some military logic in creating a new invasion.  But so far, no intent has been shown for another 'invasion'.  I think Putin would just like to end this episode, and not get entangled into more stuff.
