It wasn't exactly front-page news, but back in Feb, Mar and Apr...here in Germany....a fair number of Covid-vaccinated senior citizens got sick, and in quick fashion...died. This got the interest of the Charite Hospital in Berlin.
Focus picked up the story yesterday, and it's an interesting research conclusion. I would recommend a read of the article.
For the record, the Charite folks are the most highly regarded medical organization in Germany.
So what Charite's research has indicated? Well....up front, they say the vaccination is effective. Then they lay this out....that the effect is somewhat delayed (after the older folks got the shot), they noted that the senior citizens had a reduced immune response. In the end, they said that procedures for guests and visitors into the retirement homes needs to continue....to protect a high risk group.
They aren't saying it's a waste for the older folks to get the shot.....just that if you expected 100-percent effective protection from the vaccination, it's not going to be that way.
