Q and A: 10 June 2021

 1.  As scandals go, how does this German mask episode brewing currently go?

Well....what you had was a bunch of non-logistical folks who deemed masks as absolutely essential and put a deadline in place which was impractical.  So a bunch of Chinese companies made masks, with some being quality masks, and some being crap.

The government then received and shifted all of masks into some military bunker area (the standard ones and the crappy ones), and woke up months later to realize that about a billion Euro worth of crappy masks were in their possession.  It'd be like you ordering lots of condemns and discovering a year into your love-life that a quarter of them were going to be effective.

So blame has to be dished out.  We will probably end up with a truth-commission, and some five-hundred page document.  As for the idiots who cranked up the essential nature and mandated a deadline?  None of them will get mentioned, or punished.

2.  With this police raid in Frankfurt, on federal police in the area....being accused of far-right-wing behavior.....is this really a problem?

Listen....when you go out and recruit people to be city, state, or federal police....you aren't going to be able to find left-wing, anti-capitalistic folks who want to be police.  So your incoming crowd is probably leaning right a bit.

So five to ten years into a career, and observing crime, poor prosecution, marginal handling of 'bad' boys.....you get a behavior issue which identifies you as right-wing-extremist.

The government will do it's job in dumping the right-wing extremist police, and replacing them with....well, yeah....a new crowd of right-wing extremist police in five years.

3.  Any advice for right-wing police?

I would suggest to dump all social media accounts entirely and refrain from socializing with any police.  Make friends with criminal gangs, far-left revolutionaries, and mostly stay home.

4.  Once the September election is over, with the CDU-CSU winning.....what are the odds of the SPD Party being a partner in the coalition?

I'd give it only 10-percent odds.  This mask-scandal deal will take out a lot of friendly nature between the two parties.

5.  Who is this Georg Thiel guy and why does his stance matter?

Well....he's a regular German guy,  who just said 'enough' and refuses to pay the TV tax.  The court system got dragged in, and Georg is sitting in jail.  So here is the odd thing....a lot of Germans are discussing Georg on social media, and agree with the guy.

So off one of the sub public networks....WDR.....there is a moderator type show which discusses various topics and some viewer wanted to discuss Georg, and the moderator cut off the sound.  So in public TV circles....it's a forbidden subject to bring up this guy and his jail business.

6.  Is there a public pension deal and a self-employed private pension deal in Germany?

Yes.

The Labor Minister (SPD) spoke up to the idea of forcing the self-employed private pension folks to pay into the failing public pension system.  'More resources' was the positive of his chatter.

Self-employed folks liking this idea?  No.

What you have is a failed public social security program in Germany.....which only survives because the government puts extra money in to cover the outgoing cash situation.
