There was a major raid yesterday (unconnected to the Monday raid which was mostly about drugs). I know....it's a bit confusing with raids being a day to day affair in Germany now. Focus carried the best overall reporting of the episode.
So this raid.....run by the federal police....went through business operations and properties owned by the Al-Zein clan.
This clan has been around Germany for about twenty years, and mostly dabble in money-laundering, murder-for-hire, assault, weapon sales, etc.
What the fed cops are mostly looking at? Well....'assets'. The police operations manager (Heike Schultz) said it in a clear way: "Criminal assets are not assets."
The bundle here....the clan had taken their profits and driven them into business operations, construction projects, barber shops and the medical trade.
What'll happen now? The feds will present the case in court, and I'm guessing seizure of property will occur at some point in the next six months. Just based off rumor.....if you walked around cities like Frankfurt or Hamburg....there's probably a hundred apartment building properties in each city which lead to a fake company and income from the rentals lead back to some crime family operation.
