Q-and-A

1.  This idea of a major reform being accomplished by the EU and limiting migration in the future?

Well....it got pushed, and pushed....with probably half the EU wanting a defined and limited immigration program.  Basically, it's stalled at present, and I doubt much of anything comes out of this.

2.  Heat-pump agenda to be passed?

The FDP says that a solution agenda is on the table and likely to pass.  How it's worded?  Unknown.  The basic idea was that natural gas and oil new heating systems would not be possible by the end of 2024.  Some people think waivers will exist, and be heavily used....so all this drama may be just theatrics on the part of the Greens.

3.  Isn't the heat-pump installation time now a problem in Germany?

Funny issue.  I noted in RBB....that if you go to any installation team now....it's a full-year before they can get to your house.  So even if you brought the guy over for a consult, and were persuaded to go this way.....it's a fairly long-term off before the team could be in the house and get the installation resolved.  I don't see this improving....it's probably going to get longer....maybe up to two years before you can replace your current unit.

4.  This Hessen state election (8 Oct 2023)....mostly a case of the CDU winning and how they rig up the coalition?

Yes.  Presently, the odds are a 30-percent win with the CDU, with the Greens/SPD vying for second place (around 20 percent down to 16 percent each)....depending on the poll.

I would say presently, the Greens are on a downward trend, and if they fall in the 15-to-16 percent range....their participation in the coalition only works if a 3rd party is in the deal (like the FDP).

Don't get too excited over this election....that's my advice.
