Two Odd Stories

First, this week in Berlin....they started offering 'free' drug purity checking.

What this means?  Say you have some meth, LSD, crack or heroin.  You aren't that sure about it being the right mix.  So you take it to this shop, and they do a simple 1-2-3 type test, and tell you 'yes' or 'no'.

Cost?  Nothing.  But somewhere in the city budget....they are allocating money for some people and equipment.

Are people checking?  It's suggested that some show up and at least test the service.

Problem?  Well....if you bought x-drugs from some guy on the corner, and your test service says it's crap or way over the limit....you probably won't go back to the dealer (at least people think this).  But in the world of irrational thinking....if this dealer is selling the cheapest stuff....yeah, the test won't matter, and you will go back to buy more crappy drugs.

Second story?  Back in 2016, there was this five-star raid on a Berlin brothel (legally operating).  Lot of unusual things were involved in the case, and this past week....the city had to admit that they royally screwed up.

Cost factor?  The city has agreed to pay 250,000 Euro to the owner.

The original raid designed as a PR-event?  After you read through everything....whoever was running prosecution services for the city....had some intent to get attention for cleaning up the city.

Taking seven years to admit this?  Yeah.   Probably over 300 police were used for the all-day event....for nothing.
