I sat and watched this 90-second report off N-TV this afternoon....over Covid-19 vaccinations.
So the vaccine company ships out sixteen loads....each going to a German state and it's dispersed by the states themselves to regional cities.
It's apparently from Monday, that the reservation system is not exactly set-up to control folks, and make a Hessen guy.....get the shot in Hessen. So you could work through the reservation system, and if you fell into the right age group (priority one), then you could actually make an appointment in Bavaria or Baden-Wurttemberg.
Well....this got figured out yesterday, and the Baden-Wurttemberg folks figured out that various older folks were 'sneaking' from Rhineland-Palatinate (the Pfalz)....over to their shots.
This got the Baden-Wurttemberg Health Minister all pissed-off.
So they wrote a letter to the Pfalz folks.....more less saying 'this ain't right'.
How this came up? Well....the Pfalz medical folks said NO appointments until 4 January.....they were going to retirement homes for the first ten days. The Baden-Wurttemberg folks? They started appointments on Sunday.
Turf battle? More or less.
So it's not a German thing, but you really are a Hessen first, then German? Well....150 years ago...you were a Hessen first, and then a German. This idea was supposed to have ended in the past 50 years.
The curious to this story? No one is really saying how many sneaky Pfalz people got their vaccinations in Baden-Wurttemberg. If we are only talking about 30 people....it's not worth the hassle of this 'bad-boy' letter routine.
