Covid-19 and Mouth-Wash?

I sat last night and watched a very brief segment on SWR news (public TV from SW Germany), and it engaged on a new Covid topic....gargling.

Science studies done, and the word is: "The viral load in the oropharynx is reduced very effectively by gargling with special solutions."

The German Health Minister himself....came out and advised folks to do gargling to lessen 'viral load' and Covid-19 effects.

Eradicating the virus?  NO.  That's very clear in their talk over this.  It simply lessens the viral load potential.

I should note here as well....they are not trying to suggest you gargle twenty times a day.  In fact, they are basically going to a suggestion of a good complete gargle every 2 to 3 days.  Emphasize that....one time per 2-to-3 days.

The sad thing is that 10,000 Germans will watch this segment, and suddenly start carrying around a mouthwash bottle with them....gargling on the street after exiting a bus or train, and everyone is spitting mouthwash all day long.
