META/FB Story

It's an interesting topic brought up today about Meta/Facebook.

So, back about two years ago....a data 'leak' occurred at Facebook.  What they figure is about 6-million Germans who had accounts....were at risk.

So via the court system.....some folks have used the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to establish a legal document.....where you might be paid for your 'pain and suffering'.

How much?  They say up to 1,000 Euro.

If you check with the GDPR folks.....they offer a free copy of a sample letter and some instructions how to prepare and submit it.  I'm guessing there is some 20 to 40 Euro court fee involved in this.

The fact that it's been used and the court system has accepted it?  Well....I'd just say at this point, if you did have an account....in Germany.....you probably could ask for some 'pain-geld'.  I doubt that you'd get a 1,000 Euro.....but you might be getting 500 Euro, and it's worth the 30 minutes to fill out the form.
