Six German News Stories

 1.  The Chancellor had a speech yesterday (Wed), and basically said....if you fail on your asylum request....your path on deportation is pretty much fixed-up.  How this occurs?  Unknown.

He also made the point that trained/certified people from outside of Germany....will be welcomed to fill empty positions of employment.

2.  There's now a gender lawsuit going into the court system of Germany....where a father got fed up with the teachers of the school (in Berlin) and started a case.  Anyone's guess where this will lead onto.

3.  Jorg Wimalasena wrote a fine piece for WELT (if you can find a copy from 7 Feb, it's worth a read.

He goes into detail how Washington DC, for differing reasons, has become a ghost town of sorts.....with people not active on the streets.

4.  From all the Silvester violence in Berlin, and public frustration over violence used against the ambulance crews, firemen and police...NOT a single case has been taken into the court system.  All that is said by the prosecution folks.....there's to be more review.

This going getting into public attention right before the city election?  Yeah, it really hurts the SPD and Greens to some extent.

5.  There is a story going around about the Russian 'promise' to jail-inmates/prisoners....if you volunteer, and go off to the war....when it's over, you will be 'released' from your sentence.  Well....some people are now saying from within Russia....it's BS.

6.  There was a recommended speed limit established for German federal gov't vehicles (yeah, I'm shocked).  Limit was 100 kilometers per hour.

How many of the sixteen departments comply?  Well....one, the Environmental Agency....the rest kinda declined.
