Both the CDU and SPD had a full decade to overcome the migrant problems created, and re-develop the police situation for the evolution of crime that occurred. What you can generally say....they (the two parties) weren't prepared for this, and didn't really have the enthusiasm for massive change.
AfD? They talk a lot, but have not shown results yet (not really able to lead in any state).
So Saxony-Anhalt is the 'test-model'....if AfD is able to form a coalition and run one single state (of the 16).
If you asked me currently? I'd say the economy rates as a bigger issue....than migration. Oddly, neither the SPD or CDU have any serious resolution for that problem.
This 'saving-democracy' gimmick? I might go and suggest that half of German society see this as something that old DDR used to sell as propaganda to the public.
Public TV having lost appeal to a fair number of Germans? There's that odd issue brewing. The news stuff....public forums.....'experts'....have less value today (compared to a decade ago).
