Roughly 125 years ago....about a mile up the road from my German village....they (the state) built a tuberculosis recovery hospital.
This operated as such...until the early 1980s....when the state determined that they had 'control', and dumping a guy/gal off at a facility like this....was no longer necessary.
The selling point of this facility? It was on a hillside....with a 6-mile wooded trail. So as folks recovered....they were kinda 'directed'....to take a daily walk....to the end (where a rest-stop was located) and back.
What the center turned into after the 1980s? Well...a business-retreat hotel....where you'd reserve rooms and a conference center...to have 'talks'.
Who worked in the facility from the 1900s to 1984? Mostly folks from the village.
