It's a three-line story today within various outlets in Germany over NRW (the German state to the NW), and the summer period of 2019.....with pool conflicts involving the police.
So, if you haven't followed the story....over the whole state of NRW....there were a number of occasions that the cops got called because of fights, assaults, rampaging, and mobbing behavior at the public pools.
Some involved adults....most involved young men (say between 15 and 25 years old).
Germans in general will say that they've just never seen this amount of bad behavior at public pools.
So the question was asked by a AfD Party member to the state....how many episodes occurred, and how many were foreigners?
All total, 659 'crimes' were reported, with people detained or issued a summons to see a judge....at public pools. In rough numbers....70-percent were purely German individuals. Only 30-percent were non-Germans.
So does that settle the public frustration in NRW? Not really. The cops kinda said that they don't want to be 'bouncers' or public pool guards. So there's hype that the pool folks will have to start having guards....meaning some additional cost to have two or three guys around for most of the daily open hours. It sounds silly, I admit. But just blowing the whistle does not solve the problem.
An accurate tally by the cops? I would imagine it's fairly accurate. They certainly wouldn't want this to come back up and fake statistical data was inserted into this.....making them look foolish.
The end? Well...until opening day of pool season 2020.
