Replacing Plastic Bags Mentality

There is this trend going on in Germany with the public news media, and grocery stores.  Everyone is hyped-up and anti-plastic bag.

So if you shopped around for meat, or cheese.....around 10-percent of the public is very sensitive to being anti-plastic bag.

To resolve this?  Well, the trend is to have these little plastic containers that you carry around with you and hand the butcher or cheese gal to fill up.

Sanitary?  This is generally my question.  You wash it in the morning before you run off to work, and throw this into the trunk of your car.  So at 5 PM, as you shop, you pull this out and hand to the butcher or cheese gal to fill with the item.

For some reason, I'm not buying into the idea of this being better than the plastic bag.

Eventually, some University PhD guy will come along and list out 40 bacteria items that could be in your car-trunk, and how this is really stupid.

Oh, and the cost of the plastic container?  2.99 Euro.  Yes, I know....it's made in China for 25 cents, and the grocery is probably make 1.50 Euro off the container.
