Germany and Corona Notes

1.  I noticed via ARD (public news, Channel One)....that Berlin-City is reporting tourism 'off' by 60 to 70 percent (basically all of the international travelers, if you think about it).  They do admit that people that live in bordering countries to Germany....are showing up (somewhat of a positive).  Improving for the 2nd half?  No....no one is suggesting that, and I doubt if they expect anything better than this for 2021.

2.  One German political figure is suggesting that if you are going to a high-risk area....before you leave Germany, you need to notify the government.  The idea is that you'd go on a list and be quickly 'noted' as you arrived back into Germany....then they'd track your testing more carefully.  Six months ago, some idea like this would have been laughed upon....now?  It'll probably be openly discussed.  A number of Germans will question this database being assembled and just how much data will be in it.

3.  N-TV reported today that the virus experts in Germany are now fearful over massive crowds showing up at lakes around Germany.   Crowded areas, people not observing 1.5 meter distancing, etc.  Because so many Germans are fearful of leaving the country.....the lake scene is now the back-up plan.

4.  I noticed in SWR news (regional public TV for the SW of Germany)....that the Paul Ehrlich Institute says they expect approval for their vaccine at the end of 2020, and vaccinations across Germany will start in January (if plans work out). The Ehrlich Institute are the approved 'maker' of the Covid-19 vaccine for Germany.

So you are looking at five more months of semi-chaos, before folks settle down a degree or two.
