Tests Chatter

Right now, if you return from a 'hot zone', the German government policy (doesn't matter if boats, cars or aircraft are used).....you must get the Covid-19 test.  Two weeks ago, based on the determination of the federal Health Minister (Spahn).....the test was deemed 'free' (meaning someone paid for it but NOT you the consumer or traveler).

If you gaze at comments made over the weekend via ARD news....a number of left-leaning folks and the SPD Party....have said that this cannot be 'free'....that the consumer or traveler needs to pay for this themselves.

So you take a family of four, and figure the cheaper type test (at Frankfurt's airport for example) and it's in the 110 Euro per person.....so this would add 440 Euro to your vacation plans.

For some folks, it's a serious amount of cash, and they'd argue that this is a government requirement, so the government should pay for it.

What'll happen?

I'll suggest that for the remainder of 2020....the 'free' tests continue on, and will become part of the political discussion for the 2021 campaign season.  But if you wait long enough....the tests might be developed in a way to be less than 25 Euro by the of the year.
