New Procedural Rules

Starting this Saturday, if you enter Germany from a list of 'hot zones' for the Coronavirus....either you have a slip showing you were tested in the last day or so.....or you get tested at the arrival airport in Germany.

Fine, if you attempt to avoid it?  Up to 25k Euro.

By the wording of the Federal Health Minister (Spahn)....you will wait at the airport for the negative results....so you can't test and leave for your home.

Also by his wording, if the test was positive, you'd go to some type of quarantine.  This was not clear here in the afternoon, and I assume more questions will arise out of the statement.

The most mentioned 'hot zones'?  Luxembourg (the country), and three coastal areas of Spain.  Turkey?  Yes...it's on the list as well.

What happens now?

I would say for the three coastal areas of Spain, that just about kills off any tour or vacation planning from most Germans.

You can imagine leaving in the early evening from the Spanish resort....flying into Frankfurt at 10:30 PM....standing there in line for possibly an hour to be tested, and then possibly another two to three hours for the results. By the time you get your bag and find the car, it's probably near 4 AM.  I don't see Germans willing to spend an evening at the airport in this type of situation.

Course, this might trigger Germans to be tested six hours prior to the flight in Spain, and have the certificate in their hand to avoid this whole experience.

Getting the virus on the flight from someone else?  Well....yeah, you might get the virus.....pass the test....and find a week later that you are now showing symptoms.
