12 March 2025: Eight German News Stories

 1.  Greenland election results?  The way it looks....Democratic Party of Greenland  took 29-percent of the vote....to win.  Inuit Ataqatigiit Party took third place (losing seats since the last  election).

Independence movement.....still in the path,  but the Democrats wanted a slower pace....so it probably won't be a national referendum in April. More likely to be the end of 2025.

2.  Porsche profits fell....30-percent....hurts VW (their owner).

3.  All this billion-Euro debt chatter of the new Chancellor....tied up in a mess because of declining relations between the SPD and Greens.

4.  I sat and watched a ZDF news piece last night....going over Covid-era 'crime'.  Police still investigating and charging folks for fake test results.  The way they talk....could still be investigations going on for another five years.

5. WELT piece this AM....apparently some of Germany's free spending within the gov't....not only went to charity operations....but also to some lobbyists.   Expect this to develop into a scandal.

6. Numbers out today....over past decade....one-third of all German bakeries....dissolved/disappeared.

7.  New EU tariffs on  the US....boats, whiskey and jeans.

8.  Out of Sebnitz, Saxony, a German guy found a kangaroo on the street.  Took a pic to prove it.  Calls the cops but the 'roo' is gone by the time they get there.
