I spent Sat/Sun in Hamburg....musical deal for the wife (Michael Jackson musical).
So, the trip? Deutsche Bahn. I had this planned out and reserved almost four months ago. First-class, with seats reserved.
So about 8 minutes into the trip from my village to Frankfurt to catch the high-speed rail....that train was cancelled.
Bahn ran a replacement train....but with no reserved seats....probably 35 minutes after what the original train was supposed to run.
Cost of coffee on a Bahn ICE train? 3.90 Euro for a small cup.
The hotel? Fraiser Suites....which I can recommend....5-star place....great location.
The musical? If you were into pop of the 1980s/1990s....interesting enough. From the audience....probably 20-percent of the place was empty (Sat evening show).
Return? I had a 12:25 1st class return deal...monitoring from 10 to 12 (eight potential trains going through Frankfurt....two of them cancelled).
Our train ran....about 15 minutes behind schedule.
So my travel tip? If timing matters....don't use the Bahn. If stress on a train bothers you....don't ride it.
