Germany and War Bunkers

All the way through the Cold War.....Germany had bunkers  that were operational....in  case war started up.

So as the  Cold War ended.....they rushed off  to shut them down.  In 2023...they inspected what was left....about 580 roughly....in poor condition.  They figure....with some  effort and funding (130-million Euro)....they would all be up to date. Coverage?   Roughly half-a-million out  of  84-million people.

I  watched this update on N-TV today.  Fairly interesting.

Yeah, they are worried about the Russians and war.   On the priority list to resolve?  I get the impression that it's important....but it's not a top ten, or top fifty, or top-100 problem.

So this report went to interview somone  who builds private bunkers.   They admit....about 1,000 a year are built, and they say that 1,000 could protect 20 folks each.

Sparking  interest?  Well...all this Russia-Ukraine stuff has changed the perception of Germans.  But to be honest....if you wave 25-million Euro at Wiesbaden politicians.....they just aren't going to bundle it into some plan to build a 6,000 person bunker network.
