I noted last week.....some chatter came up in the UK...with Ramadan ending, and some Muslims say its unfair that co-workers and people in public (meaning non-Muslims).....are tempting the Muslim folks....so they (the Muslims) think it's time that you force non-Muslim British to not eat (or drink) in front of them.....during Ramadan.
How this would be accomplished? Unknown.
I took a German language class in 2014, and this was a group of about 18 folks....14 of them either Syrian or Iraqi, and 13-of-the-14....Muslims. That class....occurred during Ramadan.
I had no experience in such matters....so this was all new to me. I felt sorry....but to ask me to refrain from water, food, or smokes from 5:30 AM (as the sun rose), until 9:45 PM...was not going to work. To be kind....if I were sipping water or coffee in class...it was during the 'pause' and 100 ft away from the building.
I asked one of the older Syrians (over age 40)....how this really worked back in Syria, and he admitted....most guys he knew...had a small flask of water hidden somewhere at work....with a baggy of dates....breaking the Ramadan rule around mid-day.
How this all started? He had been told that it was the Jews, and later the Catholics who went this path.....with Muhammad simply copying the tradition.
As for these Brits being dragged into this mess? If the police came to mess with me....I'd say that's the end of my staying in the UK. I'd have to leave if you were leading me to this Ramadan-path.
