Four German News Stories (Friday)

 1.  I was reviewing SWR TV news (for the Pfalz), and they got onto the topic of refugee handling in Kaiserslautern (my old town).

It's a curious thing....where they bring them into (originally) is Asternweg (the crappiest poorest area of town....my definition of a German ghetto).

There was a big deal about a decade ago....to get Germans out of the neighborhood...into nicer apartments.  This was triggered by a German reality TV show featuring the 'ghetto'.  Oddly enough, they didn't dismantle the apartment buildings at the time....so the refugees get them now.  I would imagine they are just gazing at the structures and shaking their heads.

2.  Interesting piece off Focus health news.....mental decline reported from Covid.  University study determined that you didn't actually have to have Covid, for the decline to occur...saying that higher alcohol consumption was reported, and there's more of a problem via physical activity decrease and depression.

3.  From two nights ago, on a late public forum show (ZDF network), the Foreign Minister (Baerbock) said in a blunt statement...in terms of Israel's right to exist....if you don't share that idea, maybe you selected the wrong country to migrate into.

4.  Shots fired last night in Koln....cops have closed off one neighborhood.  Two wounded at present.
