I noticed in last nights German news (ARD), that SPD's Martin Schulz made a campaign stop yesterday and delivered his anti-Trump speech.
Some great quotes among the lines: "cyclone of anxiety."
Then Schulz noted all this talk of military rearmament. As Schulz wanted to talk over the useless waste of capital....that the money could have been spent on schools, rural development, and infrastructure repairs.
In a normal election year, Schulz could have ran entirely on the anti-Trump theme.....speech after speech....and drummed up votes left and right. However, in 2017....it's a remarkable year because Merkel has taken the anti-Trump routine as well, and given Schulz little advantage.
If you went into a pub with working-class Germans....the bulk of the crowd really don't care about having to listen to the anti-Trump theme. They would prefer to hear about tax changes, a solution to the diesel car issue, and increasing cost-of-living situations.
