Wiesbaden and Diesel Chaos

A couple of weeks ago, my local town (Wiesbaden) got all HYPED-UP over the diesel particles business, and made a request to the state of Hessen, to deny all trucks (diesel-powered) entry into the city.  The request came from the Green Party head of the environmental business for the city.....to the state minister who would have approved this....also a Green Party guy.  Surprisingly enough....the state Green Party guy said 'NO'.  Our regional network, HR, covered the story today.

If they had approved the ban on passage of diesel trucks....one might sit there and imagine a massive mass being created, with dozens of outlying villages being used as routed traffic, and thus creating a huge mess.  The Green Party guys in the city?  Zero understanding on what they were about to create.  The Green Party guy at the state level?  He understood exactly how big a mess this was going to create.

The problem by this whole discussion is that most trucks transiting the city....have some purpose in being there (dumping dirt, delivering things, carrying construction items, etc).  It's hard to imagine the city managers allowing this request to go forward unless they wanted to make massive chaos and requiring trucks to get permits everytime they wanted to enter the city.

In some ways, I've lost respect for the diesel chaos organizers. It's apparent now that the tests in cities are being rigged in some way, and the whole thing is an intended chaos event.
